Will anybody speak to me ever (eg Paul/Raven) again?

Postby Captain Sensible on Wed Dec 05, 2007 8:07 pm

Hi guys,

I have done it.

I have bought a bike.

I think I am the first BHB member to buy this bike?

I am taking delivery of a black 2007 Kawasaki Versys on Friday.

Sorry Paul I didn't get the Bandit 1200. Will you ever speak to me?

Tried to rationalise it and I couldn't, love the Bonnevilles and Harley Davidsons (yes I did say that) but I had to go with a big dollop of common sense and after all I AM CAPTAIN SENSIBLE

Hope to see you guys around at the Hill if anyones still meeting up there on sunny days

CS (Dave)

Capt', good to see you on two wheels again! Just one thing, you've probably not noticed....someone's stuck something on the back of it while you weren't looking......Has the SilverSurfer been hanging around your garage?

Did you not know what that big black box is Toby. Its an auxillary fuel tank, for bike with only a short range main tank.

Well, not sure, it could have been Silversurfer OR Paul (AKA Raven). Actually I'll let you into a little secret I WANT A BIGGER ONE     Yes I want to increase my carrying capacity and I haven't even got the bike yet.

Graham yes it IS a Kawasaki; every review I read was positive and the engine is of course from the BHB riders favourite the ER6. I have been impressed with Kawaski recently and that is from a chap whos last Kawaski was the venerable Kwak GT550 (anybody remember them?).

And YES I do love Bonnevilles still, but I would have been forever polishing the flippin' thing and as I am out all weather it had to be practical aka sensible

Thanks guys, yes it will be nice to have a 'big' bike again. I really thought long and hard about it and read a few reviews about the Versys and sat on one in Alf's. In the end I bought it from a trader in Farnborough, who did me a good deal I thought. He is going to drop it off by van to my place on Friday. Mind you anyone under 5' 7 " or 8" or so might struggle as its quite a tall machine. I am stretching a bit but once you're on it its quite a light bike.

Dan - you are right the fastest colour IS black. Same as many other BHBers bikes (Wows Harley your Aprilia as examples!)

MT03 Sheepdip, well yes quite similar although I'd read that the MT03 engine ran out of puff a little? Mind you I like the MT03 style and pretty similar to the Versys in many respects. I had been thinking of the Suzuki DL V Strom 650 as well, basically I quite like the 'trailie' all rounder type design - plus mine has got a top box - wicked

At the end of the day what bike one likes is a subjective choice there is no one size fits all.

Safe ridin you lot,

CS
